3 Tips for Fall Lawn Care
Just because the summer time is coming to an end doesn’t mean that your lawn care responsibilities have completely ceased to exist. Fall is a great time to get a lot of work done on your lawn for a couple reasons, 1) cooler temperatures mean you won’t be nearly as hot and miserable outside and 2) winter is your last chance to rejuvenate your lawn before the cold of winter hits. When Fall hits, think of your lawn like a bear before it hibernates for the winter – it needs as many nutrients as it can get during this season. Here are three tips to help you make that happen.
- Don’t stop fertilizing – Fall is actually a great time to fertilize your lawn. Try finding a type of fertilizer that can not only feed your lawn valuable nutrients like nitrogen, but also will help your lawn fight off weeds. Fall is your last chance to give your lawn help before winter hits – don’t pass it up.
- Aerate your lawn – After a long and hot summer, giving your lawn a nice aeration will make it a lot healthier when again the seasons change. This is because when you aerate your lawn, you are basically creating a bunch of small holes. These holes allow water and nutrients to reach a lot deeper than they would normally be able to.
- Reseed bare patches – If your lawn has any bare patches, Fall is your last chance to spread new seeds before the cold hits. If fall has already settled in, try using fast growing grass seed so the grass can grow before it gets too cold.
