Nothing says tacky like 70′s wallpaper and tourist trap tchotchke’s, and we’re on the prowl for the worst of it.

Baby & Kids

We shudder to think what can befall the youngest among us, but sometimes it’s good for a harmless chuckle at their expense.

Pets & Animals

Loyal and loving, most pets are adults at 2 years of age, but they still can’t open a can of food without our help.

4 Ways to Maintain a Healthy Digestive System

Do you often have stomach pains?  Are you a little bit less then *ahem*, regular?  These are both two key signs of having a less than perfect digestive system.  We’ve all heard the old saying “you are what you eat” – this is especially true for your digestive system.  Being active and feeling your best both depend on you having a healthy digestive system.  Here are 4 tips to help you accomplish exactly that.

  • Food is meant to be eaten slowly and enjoyed – not inhaled at the speed of light.  Always try and remember to eat at a slow and reasonable pace.  By doing this, you will avoid after-meal stomach pains and exhaustion (or as I like to call it, a food hangover).
  • Remember learning about the food pyramid when you were a little kid?  Your teachers didn’t make you learn that stuff for no reason – it is extremely important to try and eat a well balanced diet.  Make sure you consume adequate amounts of whole grains, fruits and vegetables every day.  When you get in the routine of eating a balanced diet, you will realize it’s really not that difficult at all
  • Another aspect of keeping your digestive system healthy is exercise.  Just like eating a balanced diet, fitting exercise into your life won’t be as challenging as you probably worry it might be.  Start slowly – try taking a brisk walk around your neighborhood or going for a short bike ride.  Eventually, you will work up more and more stamina and be able to really give your body a work out.
  • Your stomach can often times be an indicator of both your mood and stress levels – some people carry all of  life’s worries and stress in their stomachs.  Obviously, this can easily translate to digestive problems.  Remember to always take a deep breath and remind yourself that everything is going to work out a-ok.
