Indoor

Nothing says tacky like 70′s wallpaper and tourist trap tchotchke’s, and we’re on the prowl for the worst of it.

Baby & Kids

We shudder to think what can befall the youngest among us, but sometimes it’s good for a harmless chuckle at their expense.

Pets & Animals

Loyal and loving, most pets are adults at 2 years of age, but they still can’t open a can of food without our help.

We’re all for preserving the planet, and you should be too unless you’ve got someplace else to live… Yah, we didn’t think so.

3 Fantastic Foods You (Might) Not Know About

Just because you have read countless lists about doctor recommended “super foods” doesn’t mean there still aren’t tons of fantastic foods that you still don’t know about.  Trouble arises when the same foods keep getting all the attention – the lesser known health foods are time and time again pushed out of the spotlight.  Hopefully by reading this article, you will be able to add these three foods to your list of “super foods”.

  1. Watermelon – Watermelon is more than just an awesome cold snack on a blistering hot summer day.  Even though watermelon has kind of a lot of sugar in it, it makes up for it in different ways.  The melon is actually filled with tons of great stuff – vitamin C, vitamin A, lycopene and potassium.  In addition, watermelon is very low in calories.  It also contains a ton of water (duh) and will help keep you hydrated during those dog days of summer.  Bonus fact: watermelon’s thick skin helps prevent the flesh of the fruit from being contaminated by pesticides.
  2. Sweet Potatoes – Sweet potatoes don’t usually have a very good reputation in the health food world because people assume that they are loaded with sugar and calories.  Surprisingly, sweet potatoes are actually one of the best vegetables you can eat!  Not only are they jam packed with beta-carotene, sweet potatoes also contain lots of fiber, potassium and vitamin C.  Moreover, unlike normal potatoes that are usually loaded with butter and sour cream, sweet potatoes are delicious with little or no toppings.
  3. Red Cabbage – Last but not least on our least of fantastic foods: red cabbage.  Amazingly, there are only 22 calories in an entire CUP of chopped red cabbage!  This veggie is also stocked with antioxidants (cancer fighting enzymes).

Whooknoo health food could be so deliciously interesting?
