Nothing says tacky like 70’s wallpaper and tourist trap tchotchke’s, and we’re on the prowl for the worst of it.

Baby & Kids

We shudder to think what can befall the youngest among us, but sometimes it’s good for a harmless chuckle at their expense.

Pets & Animals

Loyal and loving, most pets are adults at 2 years of age, but they still can’t open a can of food without our help.

4 Green Christmas Gift Ideas

Christmas is the one time of the year when it’s absolutely one hundred percent acceptable to spoil your loved ones with lavish gifts.  Unfortunately, this mass amount of consumerism also means that we aren’t always as aware of the negative effects this holiday can have on the environment.  Why not a start a new tradition with your family this winter – having a green Christmas!  Having a green Christmas undoubtedly starts with the gifts themselves.  Here are 4 green gift ideas for this Christmas.

  1. Reusable grocery bags – When you’re buying groceries, it doesn’t matter if you opts for paper or plastic grocery sacks because either way you’re using up materials that will more than likely only be used once and then go to waste.  This is why it’s a great idea to bring your own cloth bags to the grocery store.  You can find these types of bags in a variety of sizes, styles, themes and colors.
  2. Make gifts yourself – Instead of going out to a store and purchasing a gift to give someone, why not try to make them something yourself?  Not only will this save you money, it will show that you put some personal care and attention into the gift.
  3. Tree growing kit – Since it’s winter, the weather conditions might prevent you from being able to go outside and plant a tree this Christmas.  Fortunately, lots of different companies make kits that contain everything an individual needs to plant a tree whenever weather permits.  Nothing is more eco-friendly then planting a tree!
  4. Shop locally – No matter what specific gift you are planning to purchase, it’s always best to purchase it from a business that is locally owned.  Even though you might be able to save a few bucks if you buy from a huge retailer, resist the urge – support your local community and the environment!
